Tyson Carlson, M.D.

Tyson Carlson, MD, attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and received his Available of Science in Biological Sciences. He obtained his Medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Heart in Omaha. Dr. Carlson is no stranger to the area having grown up in Valparaiso, Nebraska, about 20 miles away. He likes Lincoln considering it offers many benefits of a larger city while still maintaining the feel of a small town.

Dr. Carlson's decision to go a doctor stemmed from wanting a career that immune him to aid others while standing to acquire near physiology and pathology, ii areas of involvement. The diverseness of patients and illnesses he saw daily, the importance of preventive medicine, and the relationships formed with his patients drew him to Family Medicine. When he'due south not busy taking care of patients and learning, Dr. Carlson enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashley, and their son, Braxton, being outdoors, exercising, reading, watching sports, and visiting wineries/breweries. Earlier he pursued medicine, he was a Sports Data Director at the University of Nebraska Able-bodied Department and had considered careers equally a bus, meteorologist, or investigative announcer. He's a big fan of the Nebraska Huskers, the Scarlet Sox, and the Lakers. John DeWaard, D.O.

John DeWaard, DO, grew up in Utica, NE, a rural community approximately 40 miles west of Lincoln. Dr. DeWaard received his Bachelor of Science in Biological science, with a minor in Chemistry at Hastings College in Nebraska. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from A.T. Withal University of Wellness Sciences Kirksville School of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri.

Dr. DeWaard chose Lincoln Family Medicine Program because of its family temper and his trust in the faculty here. His favorite surface area of Family Medicine is Sports Medicine. After residency, Dr. DeWaard would like to obtain a fellowship in Sports Medicine.

In addition to having a passion for basketball game, he also enjoys football, golf game, baseball game, and sprint car racing. Whenever he gets a solar day off, he likes to attend sporting events. In addition to cheering on Nebraska's Huskers, his favorite teams all reside in Minnesota–the Twins, the Timberwolves, and the Vikings.

Emily Franzen, D.O.

Emily Franzen, Practise, completed her undergraduate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Psychology, with a minor in Biochemistry. She attended Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine where she received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine. One of her most memorable (and funny) experiences from medical schoolhouse occurred during the 2019 polar vortex. Pipes in the building were bursting, and water and ceiling tiles were falling on students, yet her professor, clad in summer attire, connected to lecture while the fire alarm was going off!

Dr. Franzen grew up in Columbus, Nebraska. She has a cat named Poppy. These days she is busy planning her upcoming hymeneals. Some of her favorite activities include playing carte games, doing puzzles, and fishing. Her musical talents abound – she plays the piano, flute, and clarinet proficiently, and has been known to play the trumpet and vibraphone. Dr. Franzen feels fortunate to have known v generations of women in her family, including her great-dandy grandmother, and looks to her parents and grandparents every bit part models. If she hadn't gone to medical school, she wanted to exist an astronaut. She's nearly proud of completing her Main of Science in Beefcake while in medical school.

Morgan Hancock, M.D.

Morgan Hancock, Doctor, grew up in Wahoo, Nebraska. She received her Available of Science at the University of South Dakota, and went on to earn her Medical degree from St. George'south University Schoolhouse of Medicine in Grenada, Due west Indies. She enjoys outdoor activities, similar hiking and fishing, exercising, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. From an early on age, Dr. Walker knew she wanted to become a physician and to make a difference in the world. She feels Family Medicine offers a wide variety of patients which allows her to practice all aspects of medicine. One piece of advice she has for her patients is that life is short so brand the most of each day.

Dr. Walker wanted to exercise her residency at Lincoln Family Medicine Plan because during her visit she felt the nigh at home. Thao Nguyen, MD, MPH, spent the first 16 years of her life growing upwards in Vietnam. She enjoys cooking and Vietnamese cuisine, lath games, and traveling. Growing upward, Dr. Nguyen wanted to be a math instructor because she was good at math and liked to teach.
